The Questions We Carry

Some questions have no simple answers.

Why do certain memories stay with us?

Why do some people change us forever?

Why do we fear endings when every beginning contains one?

Why do we sometimes long for what we once wanted to escape?

Why do we understand certain moments only after they have passed?

And what does it really mean to live a meaningful life?

The purpose of poetry is not always to answer these questions.

Sometimes its purpose is to give them a voice.

To put into words something we have felt but could never articulate.

To look at a familiar question from another angle.

To sit with uncertainty rather than immediately trying to escape it.

Because perhaps some questions are not meant to be answered.

Perhaps they are meant to be contemplated.
