The Inner World

There is the life we show to others.

And then there is the life that exists within us.

The thoughts we never speak.

The questions we never ask aloud.

The memories we revisit.

The hopes we protect.

The fears we hide.

The contradictions we struggle to understand.

Self-reflection is often uncomfortable because it requires us to meet ourselves without distraction.

But it can also be revealing.

When we turn inward, we begin to discover that the human experience is filled with contradictions.

We can be strong and fragile.

Certain and uncertain.

Hopeful and afraid.

Content and restless.

We can love something and still know that we must let it go.

We can miss the past while being grateful that it is over.

We can know where we have been without knowing where we are going.

Perhaps we do not need to resolve every contradiction.

Perhaps we simply need to understand that they are part of being human.
